ALLU Demo Helps Customer Evaluate Gypsum Board Processing Solution

Finding the right equipment for processing waste material requires understanding the material, production needs and equipment already available. For one customer, those considerations led to a recent ALLU demonstration at Ascendum’s Concord, North Carolina, branch.

The customer currently processes approximately 250 tons of material per month, with that volume expected to increase over time. The demonstration gave the customer an opportunity to evaluate an ALLU attachment for processing dry gypsum board and explore whether the same equipment could also handle lime waste.

Evaluating a New Approach to Material Processing

The customer’s primary material is gypsum board measuring 1/2 inch or smaller. The material is dry, and the customer expects its processing volume to grow over time.

At the time of the demonstration, the customer did not have a processing solution in place. One alternative under consideration was purchasing a mobile crushing unit at an estimated cost of approximately $300,000.

The customer had identified a budget of approximately $130,000 for the project and was looking for a solution that could address its current processing needs while accommodating anticipated growth. Rather than sourcing a separate base machine, the customer was specifically interested in an ALLU attachment to pair with equipment it already operates.

Testing the ALLU Attachment

At Ascendum’s Concord branch, an ALLU DHA 4-17 Bucket was paired with a Volvo EC300 excavator for the demonstration. The bucket was equipped with a 16 mm hybrid setup featuring TS and Axe Blades.

The customer provided approximately one cubic yard of material for testing, with a target of processing the gypsum board down to 1/2 inch or smaller.

The demonstration also gave the customer an opportunity to explore the attachment’s potential for additional applications, including lime waste.

Comparing Processing Options

With approximately 250 tons of material currently requiring processing each month and volumes expected to increase, the customer is evaluating its equipment options.

The ALLU demonstration offered an opportunity to evaluate an attachment-based approach using a Volvo EC300 excavator and the customer’s gypsum board material. This allowed the customer to consider how an attachment could fit within its existing equipment setup rather than requiring an entirely separate machine.

For customers evaluating equipment for specific material-processing applications, an in-person demonstration can provide valuable insight into how a potential solution fits their material requirements and existing equipment.
